Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
In order to provide attuned and individualized care, I do not accept insurance. I am considered an out-of-network provider and can provide you a superbill to submit to insurance for you to receive reimbursement.
Can I use your report to get IEP services for my child?
School districts are legally required to complete their own evaluation. My report may offer additional evidence for needing an IEP. The primary purpose of IEP evaluations is to determine whether your child needs special education support, while my assessments are looking at the whole-person and the relationships and settings that are important to them.
Do you conduct the assessment yourself?
Yes, I am the only provider working with your child from start to finish. I get so much rich information and observations from working with your child directly and having more time to get to know them.
How long does therapy typically last?
There are a lot of factors that can go into how long an individual will participate in therapy, and the process may evolve as someone develops and demands change. Parent involvement and collaboration is the most effective tool in supporting progress.
What makes you different?
I focus on making complex information and/or evidence-based strategies accessible and easily understandable for people of all ages and neurotypes. Recommendations often take into account the practicalities of every day life. Let’s find an approach that also fits into your family’s value and culture. My assessments are unique in that they integrate the nuances of attachment, family dynamics, and notable life experiences into the conceptualization and treatment plan.
What if my child acts differently at home than anywhere else?
This is a very common experience! And when this happens, that doesn’t mean that you’re doing something wrong as a parent. Let’s explore how and why this happening.
